What to do on a day off on Phuket?

Laem Singh, a “Secret” hideaway

Leam Singh beach is one of Phuket's “secret” beaches and is located between Kamala and Surin on the west coast of the Island.
From the main road, where you can park your motorbike or car, it takes about 3 minutes down a stairway to get to the hidden bay.
The beach is relatively small, but it provides all the facilities needed. There are a few local restaurants which offer food, sunbeds, restrooms, massages and showers.

Some parts of the beach are a bit rocky, and entering the sea might be best in the north of the beach. The sea water is clear and pleasant, but the under current can be tricky.

Last week, we went to experience this “secret” spot on the island. It was drizzling most of the time, but it was worth the visit. Once we came down to the beach, we fully relaxed. The bay is surrounded by rocky hills, and it made us feel like we left Phuket for the day. The sea water was warm and “soft”, and it was rather quiet for a Sunday. Just what we needed after a week of hard work!

The cost of the sunbed was 100 Baht for a day, and the fresh coconut, to go with our “tropical mood”, was 70 Baht. Both the restrooms and the showers are free of charge.

If you decide to have a look at Leam Singh, you are highly recommended not to swim during rainy or windy weather. Also, try to stay away from the rocks. The undercurrent “juggles” you around, and although there are lifeguards, it can be dangerous!
